Bed & Breakfast

St Stephen’s House has been offering B&B accommodation to the general public for many years now which allows visitors to experience some of the aspects of Oxford University College life whilst also providing an excellent base for exploring the city itself.  Many guests choose to spend their time relaxing in the cloister garden or by attending one of our world class concerts in the college church. The college is ideally located, just a short walk into central Oxford, across the famous Magdalen Bridge.

As a former monastery, and active college, we managed to combine the warm relaxed and peaceful atmosphere of a country house with all the benefits of modern facilities.  There are only 50 bedrooms so you will never feel overwhelmed.

We do not have a Porters' Lodge, or a Reception, so you are responsible for accessing the college yourself and for carrying your own luggage etc.  Details of how to access the college will be emailed to you directly from St Stephen's House and you will need to bring this information with you. Check-in is from 2:30pm only, and check-out is by 10:30am at the latest. Unfortunately we do not have disabled access to the college and the main entrance is accessed by steep steps.

Unless you have chosen an en-suite, the bedroom will have a shared unisex bathroom.  All rooms are provided with a hospitality tray, towels and toiletries, but do not have a television or a telephone. Please be aware when booking a room that we operate a silence policy during the night hours between 11pm and 8.30am weekdays in term time to allow students and guests to study and sleep undisturbed (but noting that our Church bells are rung early in the morning). Smoking is not permitted in any of our buildings.

All B&B bookings are to be made online and are processed via the University Rooms Group (not by our college).  Any subsequent cancellations or amendments must be made via the University Rooms Group (email:, not via the college.
