Local amenities

St Stephen’s House is situated in the vibrant area of East Oxford and within easy reach of the city centre.  It stands at the centre of a wonderfully diverse urban community, reflected in the wide variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs and cinemas within a very short walk. There are several excellent schools and health centres in the locality. All of this complements and yet provides an exciting contrast to the nearby 'dreaming spires'.  Recent books exploring the history and culture of this area of Oxford include Isolarion, by James Attwood and Cowley Road: A History, by Annie Skinner.

The centre of Oxford is less than fifteen minutes’ walk from college and has all of the social and cultural amenities of one of the great university cities. It is blessed with major music, arts and cultural venues and is on the circuit of major music, opera, theatre and ballet companies.  Oxford also possesses some of the great museums of the land, including the world-famous and recently refurbished Ashmolean museum.

The college is located within five minutes walk of the University athletics track made famous by Roger Bannister's four minute mile in 1954. It boasts an olympic size swimming pool, sports and fitness centre, which all students are entitled to join.

Oxford is at the heart of beautiful countryside.  Exquisite Cotswold villages are to be found only a short car journey away. Blenheim Palace is also a nearby attraction.
