St Stephen’s House is a beautiful college location set in an architecturally prized former monastic site in the centre of Oxford. Its beautiful cloistered walls provide an oasis of tranquillity and calm in the midst of one of the most vibrant and exciting areas of the city. Some of Oxford’s most interesting and varied restaurants, bars and shops are just a few moments’ walk from the college entrance. With characterful on-site accommodation, pretty college gardens and beautiful architecture, St Stephen’s House is the perfect location for residential courses, summer schools and academic conferences.

St Stephen’s House is a particularly popular venue for residential music and arts courses. The college offers a wide range of spaces which lend themselves to this purpose exceptionally well, including the college’s own concert venue SJE Arts with its fine acoustic and its fine Steinway piano. In addition to the summer schools offered by St Stephen’s House or its partners as part of its commitment to Continuing Education, the college also makes premises available for hire for similar courses and events offered by others.

The college is especially well arranged for residential, catered events for up to sixty people who can make full use of the lecture and seminar rooms, meeting spaces, break-out spaces, in-house catering and accommodation. Groups of this size can benefit from near exclusive use of large sections of the college during their stay. Unlike many other colleges in Oxford, St Stephen’s House is not open to tourists during the summer months; resident summer school students are therefore given the ideal environment for undisturbed, immersive study in beautiful surroundings.
